Following last week’s season 1 finale of the original Canadian family drama series East Coast Contraband alcohol (8×60), CBC reveals casting and production details for Season 2. Created by Sheri Elwood (Lucifer, call me Fitz) and produced by Six Eleven Media and Entertainment One (eOne), the series follows the Finley-Cullens, a dysfunctional clan of adult half-siblings struggling for control of their family business – a run-down summer campground called The Moonshine. Production on the eight-episode second season recently wrapped up in Nova Scotia and is slated to premiere on CBC in the fall of 2022, with the full season one now available to stream on CBC Gem.
“Contraband alcohol is an exciting project, and I’m thrilled with this first CBC vote of confidence, âsaid showrunner, creator and director Elwood. âI’ve never worked with such a brilliant cast, and the more we scratch the surface of this bunch of eccentric characters, the more I fall in love with them. I can’t wait to show the world how their stories evolve and to learn that we all have a bit of Finley-Cullen magic within us, whether we like it or not.
New season will see acclaimed Canadian star Allan Hawco (Republic of Doyle, Caught, Frontier, Jack Ryan by Tom Clancy, Another Life) join the cast as biker Gale Favreau, after his steamy encounter with Lidia (Jennifer Finnigan) in the Season 1 finale. Picking up where the first season ends, Season 2 will feature epic dance routines, dirty bingo , snow crab hijacking and a high-stakes turf war with a group of outlaw bikers. Fate will manifest itself very differently for the whole family, with characters fighting tooth and nail their fate as Lidia goes to extremes to save the business from financial ruin.
Contraband alcohol stars Jennifer Finnigan (Hello), Anastasia Phillips (Reign), Emma Hunter (Mr. D), Tom Stevens (Wayward pines), Alexandre Nunez (Avocado Toast), Corrine Koslo (Anne with an E), Peter MacNeill (This life), Erin Darke (The wonderful Mrs. Maisel), Farid Yazdani (Suit), Allegra Fulton (The shape of water), James Gilbert (Hello), Celia Owen (A small fortune) and Calem MacDonald (Umbrella Academy).
