Prince Edward Island Drivers Finish Strong at Oyster Bed Speedway
OYSTER BED BRIDGE, PEI — Prince Edward Island drivers finished in the top 10 five times at the BJs Truck Center 150 at Oyster Bed Speedway on July 30.
Springvale’s Greg Proude led the PEI drivers with a fourth-place finish in the 18-car field. Darren MacKinnon of Charlottetown was fifth, Dylan Gosbee of Cornwall crossed the line seventh, Robbie MacEwen of Charlottetown eighth and Chris Hughes of Brackley Beach 10th.
Other pilots from Prince Edward Island were Troy Burke of Sherwood (11th), Mike Duskey of Albany (12th), Mark LeClair of Brackley Beach (17th) and Allison MacKinnon of Oyster Bed Bridge (18th) .
Cory Hall of Jolicure, NB earned his first career victory on the East Coast International Pro Stock Tour, considered the highest level of stock car racing in Canada.
Hall battled through a green-flag race spanning two-thirds of the race with championship leader Craig Slaunwhite (Terence Bay, NS), with Hall eventually pulling away with less than 10 laps to go in the race. Slaunwhite was second and Mike Rodgers (Moncton, NB) posted a career-best third place.
MacKinnon, Slaunwhite and Russell Smith Jr. (Lakeside, NS) won their Atlantic Tiltload qualifying races, which paved the way for BJ’s Truck Center 150.
Mike Rodgers won the Kenny U Pull Hard Charger award. Slaunwhite won the R&D Performance Center Most Laps Led Award.
Duskey was the winner of the Fleet Brake Atlantic Lucky Dog.
